The 1947 romantic western stars John Wayne as gunslinger Quirt Evans. Evans is quite a neutral man but keeps side with justice as he sees it. In event of an accident that gives him a fall from the horse, he is treated with love and care by the pretty young Quaker, Penelope. They both fall in love with each other and Penelope wants him to leave the life of violence. Quirt pledges to do that except that his past comes knocking on his doors for a payment. It becomes a fight of the ideals and the promise.
