Miracle in Nepal as three more people are pulled out alive from the rubble

Fresh hope in Kathmandu after three people were pulled alive from the rubble of their home, eight days after Nepal’s devastating earthquake.

It was a small miracle amid the death and destruction – the number of dead has risen to above 7,000 – but it came as 50 more bodies were also discovered on a northern trekking route which had been struck by an avalanche.

As international aid pours into the stricken country, supplies are building up at the main airport. The United Nations has urged the Nepali government to relax its normal customs restrictions which are slowing up the flow of relief material to those who desperately need it.
