美國的左派人士指責莎拉裴琳與茶黨的擁槍言論，說他們要對周末發生的眾議員吉佛茲槍擊案負責。他們批評裴琳滿腦子都是槍，她官網上其中一張圖片是她用靶子標明20個民主黨選區的目標。知名節目主持人歐柏曼也痛罵莎拉裴琳和福斯新聞頻道的名嘴貝克和歐萊利。許多新聞部落格指責裴琳多少要對這起槍擊案負責，但是右派人士說槍擊案不該被操作成政治議題。「茶黨國」創辦人菲臘斯則形容槍手是一位「左派人士」。不過，從海外看美國，我們不禁要問，為什麼在美國持槍是這麼容易的事情？

Heated rhetoric comes under fire in the U.S.

The left wing in the United States is blaming 'gun' rhetoric from Sarah Palin and the Tea Party for this weekend's shooting of congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. They point to Palin's firearms-themed rhetoric. A map on her website depicted 20 Democratic districts targeted by gun cross-hairs.

Keith Olbermann in a special comment heaped scorn on Sarah Palin and also Fox News pundits Glen Beck and Bill O'Reilly. Many blogs are demanding that Palin take some measure of responsibility, but the right says the shootings should not be politicized. Nevertheless, Judson Phillips of the Tea Party Nation wrote a memo describing the shooter as a 'leftist'.

Overseas observers, however, are concerned with a different question: why are guns so easily available in the United States?
