An elderly couple sustained minor injuries after crashing into a church in Germany. The elderly driver said his GPS led him astray.

This isn't the first accident involving a malfunctioning GPS. In 2008, a group of tourists were stranded overnight in the Utah desert after receiving incorrect instructions.

While GPS devices have revolutionized the way people get around, faulty directions and outdated maps are common complaints.

Most GPS devices give audible directions, leading motorists to actually talk back when they malfunction. A GPS can be just as frustrating as a nagging passenger.

GPS technology is just the beginning. Next come self-driving cars. Can technology be trusted to get us to our destinations safely?
