The Zee network has banned Sonu Nigam following his open support to AAP member Kumar Vishwas. A video which had Kumar Vishwas quoting latak gaya (WRT to a farmer committing suicide) was posted by ABP news. Sonu Nigam tweeted in favour of Kumar Vishwas calling him as his friend and that the media should listen to his side of the story without jumping to conclusions.

It did not go down well with Zee network and they soon released statements that said they will ban any musical content pertaining to Sonu Nigam.

However, the Twitterati has chosen to stand by Sonu Nigam and his fans have started posting in his favour, thereby trending the hashtag #IStandWithSonuNigam. People have gone ahead and started posting messages of banning Zee News and other channels under the Zee network umbrella
