Just a Closer Walk with Thee - Climax Jazz Band 1991
At the 1991 Indianapolis Jazz Festival we play Just a Closer Walk with Thee. This is one of the most requested tunes. I was never that keen on playing it, but now, some 18 years later, and having not been with the band as cornettist and musical leader for more than 11 years I can see why. It is Chris Daniels. Chris has a beautiful warm and musical voice and this had captured audiences worldwide for all these years.
Unfortunately the band in a consistent personnel combination does not exist any more in Toronto, their hometown. Fortunately the band has a very good festival line up. Jim Buchmann is back with the band but lives in Portland Oregon and the cornettist Dave Kosmyna lives in New York State.
Here the band conssists of Bob Erwig cornet, Pete Sagerman trombone, Mick Lewis clarinet, Jack Vincken banjo, Jamie Aug drums and Chis Daniels on bass and beautiful voice
