Obama announces immigration reform, America forgets to watch
  • 9 years ago
President Obama took a historic step Thursday night by introducing his plan to protect 5 million illegal immigrants from deportation. Too bad no one watched it as ABC, NBC and CBS chose not to carry it live.

Gracias to Univision and Telemundo for airing it live. CNN, PBS and MSNBC in the U.S. did broadcast Obama’s speech, but who knows if anyone watched it.

Obama’s plan will allow undocumented immigrants who have been in the U.S. more than five years and have had kids in the U.S. to apply for a three-year protection from deportation as well as expand the pool of children eligible for protected status.

Unfortunately, those who received protected status under Obama’s 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival plan are screwed and so are undocumented immigrants who have been in the U.S. for a long period of time.

After getting destroyed in the mid-terms, Obama had to pull the executive order card in order to bypass the new Republican-controlled congress. Problem is some people think King Obama may have overstepped his authority in doing that.

But in the end, Murica will be safer as Obama also promised to strengthen the border and continue deportations, both of which have proven to be super effective.
