Spontaneous baby combustion? Bad parents say baby set himself on fire in India

A 6-day-old baby boy was admitted to hospital in Chennai, India, at Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital with burns to his feet and legs.
The baby’s parents claim that he had spontaneously combusted and started burning.
The 22-year-old mother of the newborn said that it wasn’t the first time it’d happened with one of her children. She claims that last year her other son also burst into flames, four times before she brought him to be admitted at the hospital. She said that most of the doctors and authorities thought he’d been burned on purpose.
Spontaneous human combustion is the theory that humans can catch fire and burn without an external source. Spontaneous human combustion has been suggested in many unsolved burning deaths in the US, although those victims were typically elderly, ill or drunk and were unable to escape the flames.
A team of pediatrics, psychiatrists, and plastic surgeons has been assembled to investigate the case of the child and his parents.
