Police dashcam footage fail: Dallas police release jumper rescue video

The Dallas police released some amazingly anticlimactic dashcam video of a police officer pulling a man off the edge of a highway overpass.
In the dashcam footage, officer D. Mulvihill pulls up next to an unidentified man sitting on the railings behind an overpass sign over Martin Luther King Boulevard looking down at the passing traffic below.
It doesn’t look like the man is going to jump, but the officer still proceeds with caution. He slowly walks up behind the man and then grabs him around the waist and pulls him down off the rails to safety.
The jumper is also somewhat distracted by sergeant McCoy, who walks in from the opposite direction.
The two police officers then wrestle the man to the ground so he can’t escape.
They reassure him he’s “OK” and everything’s going to be “alright.”
“You alright, buddy? I’m sorry. I’m just trying to help you. You’re alright,’ one of the police can be heard saying.
They then escort him off the bridge.
The incident took place on Nov. 26, 2014, but the police only just released the video.
For their actions, officer Mulvihill and sergeant McCoy have been nominated for life-saving awards.
The unidentified man was subsequently taken to a facility for evaluation.
