"The Chinese manufacture objects, Madagascans repair them."
There are those who make shoes out of tires, those who make lamps out of tin cans, those who transform Zebu bones into soap and medecine... Nothing is wasted, everything is transformed. In Madagascar, people defy the financial crisis with inventiveness, without ever losing their identity and their sense of humor. They depend on an oral tradition that is always dignified, although often cheerful and comical, sometimes distraught and outraged, but never bitter. The film's plot is a kind of bittersweet satire about global overproduction and overconsumption. The film's shape is a game of mirrors that contrasts the insistent and well-oiled discourse of certain development agencies (the World Bank Group, WMF) with those of Madagascan orators. "Life on this Earth is like a wagon wheel, the top can find itself on the bottom, and the bottom, at the top."
