Amateur video from a village in Kazakhstan showed what appeared to be a giant black smoke ring floating roughly half a mile above the ground for about 15 minutes or so. No official explanation for the cause of the mysterious smoke ring has been put forward, but that did not stop the people of Shortandy village, near the capital Astana, from speculating about the possible source of this unexplained phenomenon. The wildest guesses included a portal to underworld and UFO exhaust plumes.
