A psychiatric hospital in southwestern China. Fifty men are locked up here, their lives a circuit between a circular balcony enclosed with wire mesh and their communal bedroom. Every day, these patients, judged as deviants or opponents of the regime, pit their physical and mental resistence against the violence of limited freedom. Wang Bing takes us into the "madness" of contemporary China.
