President Park names independent inspector to root out corruption

President Park Geun-hye, who's traveling in the Middle East, has named an independent inspector to keep an eye out for illicit actions by the president's family members and high-ranking government officials.
Lee Seok-soo , a former prosecutor, was selected from a pool of three candidates recommended by the parliament.
Announcing the nomination, the presidential office cited Lee's investigative expertise from his 22-year career.
During her election campaign, President Park had promised an independent inspection of the president's family and high-level officials to eradicate corruption in the administration.
The nominee will need to gain parliamentary approval to win appointment.
