Julio meets an elderly writer who is looking for an assistant to type his latest novel. However he doesn't get the job, but pretends to Blanca, his off-and-on mistress, that he did. He starts to write a manuscript and passes it off as the novelist's work. He draws inspiration from his passionate love story with Emilia, which happened eight years earlier when they were both studying literature and when both of them pretended to read Proust. Where does fiction begin and memory stop? In this to and fro between literature and reality, feelings become as complex and fragile as a bonsai's architecture.
