00:29The Kodad is mobilizing today
00:31against the systematic destruction
00:33of the trees in Tours.
00:35Today, 38 trees will be cut down
00:37here in Place des Halles
00:39and it adds up to the minimum
00:41of 1,200 trees that were cut down
00:43on the construction site of the tramway.
00:45We, the people of Kodad, are going up
00:47into the trees in a peaceful
00:49and non-violent way
00:51to oppose the cutting down of these trees.
00:53Quite simply, we are non-violent,
00:55we are citizens,
00:57certainly outraged,
00:59nevertheless.
01:07We did several studies
01:09trying to keep the trees
01:11and we realized
01:13that it was absolutely impossible
01:15and that it was better
01:17to put the trees back
01:19in an orderly way
01:21to allow a good circulation
01:23in the stages of the arch
01:25and above all to have a perfectly flat
01:27because most of the roots of the trees
01:29formed promontories
01:31that did not allow people
01:33to circulate correctly,
01:35among other things with the market booths
01:37and which, in addition, obviously
01:39bothered all our merchants
01:41of the market.
01:43And so it was decided to remove
01:45the 38 trees as well as those
01:47that are around the square
01:49of the Halles building
01:51and we are planting 42
01:53but they will be well placed
01:55to allow people to circulate,
01:57among other things,
01:59disabled people in the same way
02:01and that it allows to have
02:03something completely coherent
02:05and valid.
