Aiken County Solicitor Strom Thurmond Jr. has released the dash-cam video of Aiken Officers Scotty Richardson and Travis Griffin being shot in 2011 by gang member Stephon Carter.

Richardson died and Griffin survived from a bullet-proof vest. On Feb. 2, 2015, Thrumond halted Carter's death penalty trial and allowed him to plead guilty in exchange for a life sentence without the possibility of parole plus 30 years.

Officer Scotty Richardson's brother addressed the court, saying "three wonderful boys will grow up without a father." Richardson's wife addresses court, saying "I knew when we first met, there was something special about him." She also told the court, "his boys were robbed of life experiences with their father."

Carter is addressed the court and apologized to family and friends of Richardson.

The defense team said Carter's father killed his mother when he was a baby, so he understands the pain put on Richardson's family.

The judge has imposed a life sentence without parole for murder and 30 consecutive years for attempted murder.

After imposing the sentence, the judge told Carter, "Good luck to you, sir."
