Benny Waters - Lady Be Good

In Lady be Good veteran Benny Waters sings and plays his alto saxophone at the Europa Park Jazz Festival in Germany. This was recorded at some time in the 90ties and Benny is backed up by a fine trio of Olav Palziekn piano and by two musicians he often played with before. These are bassist Jan Jankeje from Yugoslavia and drummer Gregor Beck from Germany.

Benny Waters (1902-1998 ) was a jazz saxophonist and clarinetist known, in part, for the longevity of his career.
He began on organ, then switched to clarinet and later added saxophone. He joined his first band in 1918. He later attended the New England Conservatory of Music where he gave lessons to Harry Carney. He later went on to work with King Oliver, Fletcher Henderson, Claude Hopkins, and others. From 1952 to 1992 he lived in Paris and in 1996 received the Legion of Honor by the French Ministry of Culture. He continued to perform regularly up to his 95th birthday

Europa Park is the second most popular theme park in Europe, after Disneyland Paris. It is open from April to October and in December and early January. It's located in Rust, south-west Germany, between Freiburg and Strasbourg. Its mascot is a grey mouse named "Euromaus" whose friends include Europhant, an elephant. It is split into fourteen different areas, typically named after European countries or regions.
