USA: Meet upgraded ATLAS, one of the most advanced robots in the world

Check out the upgraded ATLAS robot from Boston Dynamics, one of the most advanced cyborgs in the world.

The redesigned model has had over 75 percent of its mechanics replaced, including newly improved wrist movement and 3.7 kilowatt-hours of juice in its lithium-ion battery pack.

Because ATLAS can now run without a power cable, it will be able to participate in the DARPA Robotics Challenge, a competition run by the US military's R&D unit.

Joe Bondaryk, Project Manager for Boston Dynamics (English): "At the back of the robot you'll see a large box which represents all the energy the team will have to work with during the entire DRC (DARPA Robotics Challenge) finals."

Joe Bondaryk, Project Manager for Boston Dynamics (English): "In the heart of the robot is a brand new pump. This is a very quiet pump. We're really excited about this pump because it makes the robot a lot quieter. The teams can actually operate this robot without the need for any hearing protection."

Boston Dynamics continues to develop some of the most advanced robotic systems in the world and continues to prove itself as a world leader in the industry.
