TV9 News: Sanjay Dutt Seeks Another Parole Extension, Leaves for Yerawada Jail After Gets No Reply.,

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt will have to return to Yerawada jail today (January 8), as his furlough has not yet been extended by the Yerawada jail (Yerwada Central Jail) authorities in Pune. The actor has been serving time in prison since 2013 in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case in which he was convicted for illegal possession of arms that were to be used in the blasts.

Dutt was released on a two weeks’ furlough by the authorities and has been in Mumbai since December 24, five days after his latest film PK released. In his time off from jail, he was with family, threw a party for friends, saw his movie PK and flaunted the eight-pack abs that he built in jail, showing off his motivation.

Dutt’s repeated parole and furlough approvals and extensions have been under the scanner since 2013. He has been granted leave from jail to be with family or for a more serious reason like his wife Maanayata Dutt’s liver tumour. The last time Dutt was out on parole was in a year ago and he had returned to jail on March 21 after repeated leave extensions.

Dutt has already served one-and-a-half years of his sentence and was again sent to jail in 2013. He will be in jail until he completes his five-year sentence, which was earlier six years but was reduced by a year in the final verdict.

In spite of being on parole for more than 100 days in 2013-14, Dutt again appealed for extension in 2015. But as per reports, he has not been granted extension and is likely to leave for Yerawada jail today.
