Peru's Amazon evacuated due to threat of indigenous attack

Brandishing sticks, isolated indigenous tribe members gesture and yell as they approach a residential community in Peru's Amazon region.

Residents have been evacuated following what was deemed an attack by the Mashco Piro tribe who were demanding food and supplies, authorities say.

Guillermo Bardiles videotaped the Monte Salvado Community under attack.

"They were already entering the community, pointing arrows. Then I got scared but as we understand them, I told them to not throw arrows at us because they hurt. They understood and put their arrows down and another few entered all over and others were entering from above, they had practically surrounded the village. The only thing to do was to escape."
