STORY: Britain's royal family arrived at St. Mary's Magdalene Church on the Sandringham estate on Thursday (December 25) for the traditional Christmas service.

They were led by the Queen and joined by most of the royal family including Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, though their son, Prince George, was conspicuous by his absence.

The Queen arrived by car on her own, wearing a purple dress, while her husband Prince Philip walked to the church with the rest of the family in attendance, including Prince Harry and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.

The Queen's Christmas message was due to be broadcast to the British public later on Thursday.
