You’ll already know what NA is capable of if you’re aware of LA’s Nguzunguzu. Daniel Pineda is not only one half of the production squad, but also makes up 25% of Future Brown – the dancefloor supergroup that includes Fatima Al Qadiri, Asma Maroof and J-Cush.

Fade To Mind released the Xtreme Tremble EP during the winter months of last year. On it, Pineda’s fluid compositional textures and playful disregard for genre constraints seep through from Nguzunguzu’s aesthetic. Tempos and atmospheres seamlessly cross at will. It’s this unique ability to meld otherworldliness into a club-friendly framework that fans are hoping to hear when Future Brown’s upcoming album manifests in February of 2015.

Accordingly, this week’s Upfront mix hopscotches between varying parts of the dancefloor spectrum. Joints from Vissacoor – aka L-Vis 1990 and Portland-based, Fade To Mind beatsmith Massacooramaan – seep into the icy techno of Acre. Further down, grime rears its unruly head via Youngstar’s “Shottaz Riddim”, Moleskin and Bloom respectively. Don’t be surprised if this one requires frequent use of the iTunes loop button.
