Host Queen Latifah kicked-off the traditional Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo Thursday evening.

The Nobel Peace Prize concert recognizes the laureate's achievements with a musical tribute. It has been held for the past 20 years, on December 11, the day after the Nobel awards ceremony.

This year, Steven Tyler, Queen Latifah, Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Laura Mvula, Gabrielle, Girls of the World and Amjad Ali Khan performed at the concert.

The concert honored Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai and Indian activist Kailash Satyarthi who received their Nobel Peace Prizes for their work for children's rights at a ceremony on Wednesday. Malala became by far the youngest laureate, widely praised for her global campaigning since she was shot in the head on her school bus in 2012. Satyarthi is credited with saving around 80,000 children from slave labor, sometimes in violent confrontations.

The concert is broadcast globally from the Spektrum arena in the Norwegian capi
