This first movie from the iconic director Francis Ford Coppola is full of bizarre creepiness, and is an absolute homage to the experience that Coppola had working with the master of schlocky/b-movie camp Roger Corman. After an argument over a rather large inheritance while rowing on a lake, John Haloran dies of a heart attack. His wife Louise decides to throw him overboard and pretend that he is alive … and on an extended business trip, so that she can renegotiate her way back into the will. Things start to get very bizarre as family secrets are revealed and other supposedly dead family members “return” to the family castle. Director: Francis Ford Coppola Cast: Bart Patton, Luana Anders, Mary Mitchel, William Campbell Date: 1963
