In a landmark move, government has decided to decriminalise attempt to suicide. Following recommendation from the law commission, minister of state for home affairs has stated that Section 309 of the IPC is likely to be scrapped. Sources say while 18 states and 4 Union territories have backed the move, 3 states have opposed the decision.
