Several injured after train stabbing incident

A suspect is in custody in Michigan after a stabbing incident onboard an Amtrak train.

Officials say it happened on a train that was stationed in Niles, Michigan, enroute from Chicago and on it's way to Port Huron.

Witnesses told local media that four people had been stabbed including three passengers and the train's conductor.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED WITNESS SAYING:

"I heard somebody screaming and yelling just loud. I look up and there's an African American gentleman standing over someone who's sitting down in one of the first seats in the car and I see him have his fist up and then bring it down."

The train service runs daily from Chicago to Port Huron in Michigan.

Amtrak said it's trying to arrange alternative transportation for 172 passengers.
