Social scientist and activist Kamla Bhasin who has authored a book on masculinity talks about how rigid notions of what makes a ‘real man’ have in fact ended up being detrimental to men themselves. She argues that men and women have been fundamentally created equal by nature and that it is masculinity that has trapped men into believing that they have to appear and behave in a certain way—notions that have stripped them of humanity.
