Ukraine’s newly formed parliamentary body met for its first session on Thursday (November 27), following an election in October.
Pro-Western parties dominate Ukraine’s parliament, allowing President Petro Poroshenko to steer the country further away from Russia’s orbit towards mainstream Europe.
Ukraine’s new parliament will look to restore normalcy to the sprawling country of 46 million and draw a line under a year of upheaval that began with street demonstrations against Poroshenko’s pro-Russian predecessor, Viktor Yanukovich.
