Pope Francis calls for people to live together in solidarity

Pope Francis has addressed delegates at the second International Conference on Nutrition in Rome (ICN2).

During his speech he said all men, women and children are part of the same human family and should live with love, justice and peace.

The pope urged everybody to unite and live together in harmony in a world where people help each other.

“There is a lack of solidarity, a word that we suspect that unconsciously we’re trying to remove from the dictionary.

“Our societies are defined by a growing individualism and division, and it’s depriving the the weakest of a life with dignity and it provokes uprisings against the (public) institutions,” Pope Francis said.

The three-day UN summit in Rome runs until Friday.

The conference will review progress made towards improving nutrition since the previous meeting in 1992.
