Romanian presidential vote too close to call

Romanians head to the polls... determined to choose a new leader.

The presidential race is neck-and-neck.

Exit polls show frontrunner Prime Minister Victor Ponta tied with his opponent, center-right mayor Klaus Iohannis.

But as the ballots come pouring in, some residents are just hoping for a fresh face:

"I would like the president we are electing now to be different from all others we have had until now. There is nothing else I want."

Ponta HAD been leading opinion polls.

If he does win, the 42-year-old would be youngest president the country has ever seen.

The former prosecutor and amateur rally driver has promised tax cuts and more pension hikes... vowing to help Romania overcome painful budget cuts imposed during the global economic slowdown.
