Torrential rainfall in Peru shows no sign of letting up.

Schools flood during class-time in a town in the Loreto region of Peru's Amazon, leaving students knee deep in water.

Peru's National Meteorological Specialist, Jose Mesia, says the forecast doesn't look promising, either.

(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) JOSE MESIA PERU'S NATIONAL METEOROLOGICAL AND HYDROLOGICAL SERVICE SPECIALIST SAYING:

"We are expecting even heavier and more intense rains over the course of the next few days."

Some 65 homes were hit by the the rains in the south, leaving some rural residents.. hopeless.

In the Apurimac region, 80 acres of potato and corn crop were ruined from rain and hail.

It also killed another form of crop.. Guinea Pigs, a customary delicacy.
