Police clash with Israeli Arabs over the death of a man in raid
  • 9 years ago
Thousands take to the streets of Kafr Kana in northern Israel on Saturday.

Israeli police on horseback clash with protesters who throw rocks and set fires at the entrance to the village.

The clashes come just hours after Arab Israeli Khayr al-Din al-Hamdan was shot and killed by police during an arrest raid.

Surveillance video shows Hamdan trying to break the windows of a police van after they had arrested a relative of his in a raid.

One officer exits the van and appears to shoot the man point blank. He was then dragged into the van and later died of his wounds in the hospital.

The Justice Ministry's police investigations branch is looking into the incident.
