More bodies found on Mount Ontake summit

Search parties have found two more bodies on the summit of Japan's Mount Ontake nearly a week and a half since the volcano's eruption.

The search continues for 10 more hikers still missing in what has become the nation's worst volcanic disaster in a century.

At least 51 people were killed on September 27 when 3,067-metre (10,062-foot) Mount Ontake erupted without warning, blanketing the crowded summit with a deadly rain of ash and stone.

Rain and a typhoon have hampered the search, turning ash into thick mud.

Many households in the foothills of the peak were evacuated out of concerns that heavy rains could cause mudslides as ash washed downstream.
