Noshu (Dilip Kumar) is a poor newspaper man, who struggles with his ordinary life. Disappointed in life in many ways he looks out for an easy way to become rich. Then he becomes a black marketer. For sometime he visualises a colourful life, but again the monster called life starts to show his real face. Because of his ventures, his brother's life was harmed to a great extent as he loses his job and his wife in that consequence. How a bad venture, a man wields in his hand as a weapon, soon turns out to be same knife that kills him at last, is the movie's ending all about.
