Roti is inspired by the German Expressionism, is a real critique of Indian society with prophetic insight. It deals with two models - one of a millionaire, who is deeply possessed by money and power in an industrial civilisation and the other of a tribal couple who are living in a primeval state of nature. The millionaire gets saved by the tribal couple after an airplane crash. The tribal couple then emigrate to the city where do not find happiness and peace at all and they return back. The millionaire gets ruined in the city and tries helplessly to find peace among the tribals.
