Kurdish fighters take aim at Islamic State militants near the Syrian border town of Kobani.

The video, which can not be independently verified by Reuters, comes amid reports that IS insurgents have taken control of lion's share of the 354 villages around Kobani.

IS is also also besieging the border town from three sides, and are now just kilometers away from the town itself, with battle lines fluid.

As Kurdish and Free Syrian Army forces battle for control, Turkey signaled it may send troops into Syria or Iraq and let allies use Turkish bases to fight Islamic State militants.

The proposal would also mean Turkey, until now reluctant to take a frontline role against Islamic State, could allow foreign forces to use its territory for cross-border incursions.

Kurdish and Free Syrian Army forces are locked in battle for control against IS.

More footage appears to show Islamic State fighters taking positions on the outskirts of Kobani.
