Fresh terror warning from ISIL against westerners

A spokesman for militant group Islamic State (ISIL) has
issued a statement urging the group’s followers to attack civilians in countries fighting to destroy the ultra-radical group.

In a recorded audio message, Abu Muhammad Al-Shami
suggested his henchmen should single out “the disbelieving American or Frenchman or any of their allies.” He indicated a variety of methods could be used if explosives or bullets were not available.

Bernard Cazeneuve, French Interior Minister, said France is taking all steps necessary to ensure the safety of its citizens.

“France is not afraid because it is prepared to respond to their threats,” said Cazeneuve. “For the last few months, our security forces have been mobilised to prevent risks linked to terrorist groups active in Syria and Iraq.”

US and French warplanes have already struck ISIL targets in Iraq. The US has indicated other countries are willing to join the coalition if it goes ahead with airstrikes against the militant group in Syria.

ISIL has seized large expanses of territory in Iraq and Syria and has proclaimed a caliphate in the heart of the Middle East.
