More clashes on Syrian-Turkish border as refugee crisis grows

Clashes on the Syrian-Turkish border...rising tensions exploding into violence.

For Turkish sympathizers, the refugee crisis unfolding on the other side of the border has become a humanitarian emergency.

Tens of thousands of Syrian Kurds are lining up to cross into Turkey.

Officials estimate that more than 130,000 have crossed since Friday.

The refugees are fleeing an advance by Islamic State militants, who are tightening their grip on Kobani, a northern Syrian border town.

(SOUNDBITE) (Kurdish) SYRIAN REFUGEE, ISMAIL AHMAD, SAYING:

"They came into our houses and dragged our daughters away. What kind of Muslims are they? What kind of Islam is this? They are beheading people. We came here to seek shelter."

But shelter has not been easy to find.

Security forces have tightened the border leaving the refugees no choice but to wait their turn.
