Obama says U.S. will not fight another ground war in Iraq

Story: U.S. President Barack Obama said that the U.S. will not fight another ground war in Iraq.

In an address at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida he said, "As your Commander and Chief I will not commit you and the rest of our armed forces to fighting another ground war in Iraq."

He also said, "After a decade of massive ground deployments, it is more effective to use our unique capabilities in support of our partners on the ground so they can secure their own countries futures."

His comments come as a Reuters/Ipsos poll on Friday showed that while Americans support Obama's campaign of airstrikes against Islamic State militants, they have a low appetite for a long campaign against the group.
