Eight people are dead and six were others injured when a truck veered out of control after it's breaks failed in northern China Tuesday.

Chinese state broadcaster CCTV showed surveillance footage of the truck careening through oncoming traffic and crashing into a nearby bus stop around 8:16 AM local time.

The truck was carrying construction materials from nearby Tianjin to Zhangjiakou City when it's breaks failed.

The injured, including the truck driver were rushed to a local hospital, CCTV said.

CCTV quoted hospital staff as saying that two of the injured were in critical condition as of Tuesday evening.

Police continued to investigate the incident, CCTV reported.
