Dr Afzal clarifies when spine surgery should or should not be opted. Surgery is indicated only when there is acute progressive neurological loss which may represent as loss of bowel and bladder function. Surgery should not be opted in case of sciatica as it gives only temporary relief and the condition reoccurs after a couple of years. Sciatica and Disc Diseases occur due to spinal misalignment which should be corrected to get permanent relief. When spinal asymmetry is corrected, stress on the back muscles and ligaments of spine is released and pressure on the disc is reduced.
