On his second day in Mexico, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, moved to strengthen educational ties with Mexico as he signed off on agreements during a Higher Education Ceremony Thursday in Mexico City.

The Republican governor and potential presidential candidate is aiming to boost ties between the Latin American nation and his state.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE, SAYING

"We're making a choice to build on this already strong partnership by investing in the area of workshop alignment and cooperation in the fields of education and research. A prepared workforce is one of the single most important elements of economic growth for both our state of New Jersey and for the citizens of Mexico. This working partnership will set guidelines for assisting our colleges and universities to engage in education and training that prepare students for the specific needs of the industries and businesses in our countries."
