Fighting in Syria shows no signs of letting up and a new report from the UN suggests the danger level in Syria has only intensified.

It says that after three years of fighting, the death toll stands at more than 191,000.

U.N. Human Rights Spokesman Rupert Colville says the figures reflect casualty reports through April of this year.

"In addition to around 62,000 new killings in the year covered by this new analysis, the total has actually together more than doubled the number documented a year ago, which we announced in June 2013. As the report explains, unfortunately this is probably an underestimate of the real total number of people killed during the first three years of this murderous conflict."

The UN says the report was compiled with data from numerous credible sources and says the need for a united front to end the conflict is now more urgent than ever.
