Screams and scares as horror festival FrightFest gets underway

It's not every day you see people dressed as Freddie Krueger hanging out in London.

But the opening of horror festival FrightFest was enough to draw them out.

The psychological thriller 'The Guest' got things underway at the annual event.

It stars former 'Downton Abbey' man Dan Stevens and one of Hollywood's rising stars Maika Monroe.

It's the second horror Monroe's starred in recently - following her turn in 'It Follows'.

SOUNDBITE: Actress, Maika Monroe, saying (English):

"I mean, yeah, I -- kind of grew up with horror films, so I kind of always had a special place in my heart. My dad started me watching 'The Shining' and then got me into 'Nightmare on Elm Street'. There was something so unique in these horror films that I thought, I don't know, that it would be really fun to, kind of, play with"

Monroe plays Anna Peterson.

She's the sister of a soldier who died in Afghanistan, and she gets suspicious when Dan Stevens' 'David' turns up
