President of Guinea declares national emergency over Ebola

The president of Guinea has declared the country to be in a “national health emergency” and announced a string of measures to combat the deadly Ebola virus.
The measures include a ban on moving bodies from one town to another and any suspected victims will be automatically hospitalised.
At the weekend, Guinea closed its border with Sierra Leone, leaving stranded passengers on both sides. Some had just popped across to buy food at the market and were unable to go back home.
The current outbreak of Ebola was first detected in Guinea in March and has claimed more than 1,000 lives as it spread to Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria.
On Wednesday Nigerian authorities announced that a third person had died from the virus.
Meanwhile, a shipment of experimental Ebola drugs has arrived by plane in Liberia from the US. It will be used to treat two doctors who caught the virus while attending to patients including a late colleague.
The World Health Organization said this week that 170 health care workers had been infected and at least 81 had died.
