A hospital in Toronto Canada has begun treatment on a patient suspected of contracting the Ebola virus.

Officials say the patient has fever and flu-like symptoms... and recently returned from Nigeria.

The African nation has recently declared a national state of emergency with seven reported cases of the virus.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) SPOKESMAN FOR NIGERIAN PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN, REUBEN ABATI, SAYING:

"Also approved a special intervention plan and the immediate release of 1.9 billion naira ($11.7 million) for its implementation, to further strengthen steps to contain the virus such as the establishment of additional isolation centres, case management, contact tracing, deployment of additional personnel, screening at borders, and the procurement of required items and facilities".

But good news may be on the way.
