The death toll in Karachi beach tragedy has climbed to 38 as another body of a boy was found at Manora beach, Dunya News reported.

The bathers were among thousands who had taken to the beaches to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday, which began on Tuesday and continued until Friday.

Earlier today (Saturday), Pakistan Navy resumed operation at Sea View in Karachi to recover more bodies of the drowned picnickers.

In a statement, a Navy spokesman said helicopters, boats and divers are taking part in the operation.

Navy helicopters were used in the rescue operation because it was difficult for divers to retrieve the bodies in high tide.
Several ambulances were seen on the beach where the relatives of some of the missing anxiously awaiting word of their loved ones.

So far, identities of six bodies could not be confirmed.

Thousands of residents regularly throng Karachi's beaches on public holidays, with few public parks for picnics.
