U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry plucked and strummed the strings of a guitar in Beijing on Thursday (July 10).

Kerry's classical guitar performance was met with applause from onlookers after a lunch at the Great Hall of the People as annual talks between U.S. and Chinese officials concluded.

The State Department said Kerry picked up the guitar after being urged to play by Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong.
