In what is a fresh challenge for the Narendra Modi Government, inflation has spiked to five-month high, and onion prices are soaring. In just a month they have gone up by at least Rs 10, hurting the household budgets. And now, Government has imposed minimum export price (MEP) of USD 300 per tonne on onion exports to check prices. RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan speaking to reporters reiterated that the Central Bank's priority is to control inflation.
