Four injured in axe-wielding attack at chess hall in China

A crowded chess hall in western China becomes a scene of violence when axe-wielding attackers injured four people as the country grapples with a wave of unrest in the region.

State run CCTV says four people were injured in the struggle but their injuries were not life threatening.

Two of the attackers died from serious injuries and a third was arrested.

An unidentified police officer, called the attackers "rats".

He said, "Our defense against violent terrorists is like an iron wall."

China has blamed previous knife and bomb attacks on separatists who seek to establish an independent state called East Turkestan.

The motive for Sunday's attack was not immediately clear.
